Tenets of Bushido
Escape from the Tomb (This is the End part 2: Or is it?)
Escape from the Tomb (6/21/13 – 6/28/13)
They seem to pass through a shroud of darkness that brightens to reveal a dim room lit only by a slight luminescence that seems to come from their own bodies! Shinji is able to faintly make out sconces on the walls with torches in them, and lights one of them to better illuminate the room. The group sees a sarcophagus at the center of the room; the top is broken open, revealing a scattered skeleton inside. They can determine nothing else about the intered body, and decide to leave through a dark doorway that was revealed by the lit torches. Shinji is last to leave the room, his gaze drawn to the sarcophagus. He feels that this was a truly important place to have visited, though not why. As he turns to follow the others, he notices that the dark doorway does not show him the light from their torches, nor does his torch illuminate beyond it. Dashing after his charge, Shinji finds himself atop a stone pillar in the midst of a storming, gale-force whirlwind. The doorway they had passed through disappears, leaving them stranded on a rock platform twenty feet wide. After spending much time trying to figure out where they are, the group is frustrated. They have glimpsed other rock pillars around them through the hurricane, but are unsure of how to get to them. Finally, Shinji volunteers to be lowered down towards the closest one, and then to jump the rest of the way. Buffeted by the winds, he is able to make it and helps the rest follow.
Zenshin is the last down, and the moment that his feet touch the pillar, the entire group is suddenly standing in another place entirely! They are now in a dojo that seems to have no exits. Suits of armor from many different clans and eras are neatly folded around the dueling area. A suit of black armor unfolds itself and rises to stand without anyone inside. A voice from the dark armor issues a challenge to the group to duel for the way out. Matsu Kinnosuke accepts the challenge and defeats the spirit in the armor. Heroically, he defeats the spirit enough times to free the samurai who were trapped in this room over the centuries and the group(now much larger) continues. They learn from these other samurai, that they are inside the tomb of _____________, proving Shinji’s musings correct. They make their way though many different rooms, facing challenges that most would find daunting. The last room they encounter is full of whirling, circular death-blades that make it impassable… Until the group figures out they can just walk on the walls around the blades if their will is strong enough… Which Shikazu’s is not… He is sucked into the room-sized death-blender and immediately liquefied by the blades. Shinji stares after his charge in horror as Shikazu’s blood sprays everywhere. After that, Shinji manages to follow the others out of the tomb, and begins to meditate to regain his balance. The party is attacked by ogers as they make camp.
